Charlie grew up in South Texas where he attended Valley Christian High School. Growing up on the Mexican border afforded a bi-cultural exposure and view of the world. The rapid explosion of growth on this Southern city was comparative to that of Fort Myers, where a balanced lesson in growth and environment is crucial to Southwest Florida. It was while working in a local business at a young age that Charlie met his new employer, Bill Perrin. Mr. Perrin was a man who dedicated much of his life to the greater cause of others. Mr. Perrin was actively involved on a national level with the Republican Party and continued his path to become the United States Ambassador to Cyprus. Mr. Perrin's interest in politics solidified and built the interest that Charlie has had since the fourth grade.
Charlie moved to Connecticut as a young adult, it was there that he was employed for many years in the Yale New Haven Health Care system. Charlie raised his family in Connecticut and obtain his BSBM degree from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven.
Charlie has been fortunate enough to have traveled throughout the world. Traveling exposed him to several different cultures and some uniquely structured governments. Traveling within Russia Charlie had delivered much needed medication, vitamins and medical supplies to children organizations. Charlie was able to secure these donations from the pharmaceutical and medical industry.
Working as an educator Charlie has talked about the need for our youth to have a competitive edge in life. The educational system should be a place that can teach our students about life skills for success. Charlie’s belief is to have every Florida High School student educated in how to obtain car loans, mortgages, dealing with credit, understanding interest rates as it obtains to credit and savings, as well as a full understanding on 401K and other retirement plan options. Charlie often states “The stronger Florida students are, the stronger our states future becomes.” These lessons are ones he has instilled into his two sons.
